2021 Toronto Korean Speech Contest
□ The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Toronto (Korean Education Centre in Canada)
will virtually host '2021 Toronto Korean Speech Contest' on Saturday, March 20, 2021
at 12:00 pm-4:30 pm in partnership with the Centre for the Study of Korea of the University of Toronto.
□ This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Toronto Korean Speech Contest, which is annually held
for non-Korean students learning Korean. The contest is divided into high school & novice
for 15 years or older), beginner, intermediate and advanced level (for 18 years or older) categories
and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of each category and the grand prize winner will be awarded
certificates and prize money.
※ Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Korean program scholarships
and airline tickets will not be awarded.
□ Those who would like to participate in this virtual contest must upload their speech video to
their personal YouTube channel by referring to the attached guideline and then register
at the Canadian Association of Teachers of Korean’s webpage
www.catk.ca by Friday, March 12, 2021.
o Participants must submit their speech script along with their YouTube link. When the registration is
successfully completed, the registration number will be issued by email after confirmed by the Centre
for the Study of Korea of the University of Toronto.
□ The Quiz Contest to be held as a side event is open to all ages of non-native Koreans to encourage them to learn more about Korea. Ten (10) quiz winners will get e-gift cards sponsored by
Korea Tourism Organization Toronto Office.
※ Only residents in Canada will be eligible to receive a prize.
□ The 15th Toronto Korean Speech and Quiz Contest is expected to provide opportunities
for Korean learners to show their speech skills and further understand Korean culture.
